Social Jewels

Fondazione Italia Uganda supports the productive efforts of two groups of women living in the slums of Kireka and Kitintale, in the capital Kampala. They are mostly widows or sole mothers that produce necklaces, bracelets and other gadgets made out of coloured paper beads and completely hand crafted, and then bought by Fondazione Italia Uganda for fundraising campaigns.

The proceeds of their work allow them to maintain their families, enrol kids to school and, in some case, buy small plot of lands.
The project Social Jewels supports the independence and empowerment of single women and promotes the development of their community.
